Image result for the approach

 Hello again, fellow blog viewers...

This is Ana Willson Cypress Bay student and upcoming film opening producer.

In this blog i will be talking about what ideas i have going in my head as i am still in my brainstorming phase...hopefully in a very near future i will have a clear view of my project and have it ready to make it reality. Starting is always weird as we never really know what approach we want to take and aren't sure of the next steps. Moreover, what i do know is that i have a chance to make a wonderful project that will reflect upon what i learned in my AICE media class. This class has never failed to teach me as i never thought i would be capable of creating a film opening.

Now what what what will be my next step..well i definitely need to do more research but i have narrowed it down to two genres romance or drama as that is the genres i feel i could do the best in. My goal for this week is to furthermore research this genres and elaborate and make a decision.

This project is already teaching me tons of things such as time management, team work, organization skills and many more. Im ready to take upon this challenge as i want to put my skills at test. After doing so many projects in my class i have gathered different skills such as editing, marketing skills, different techniques that this project will test. I'm i nervous? well the answer is yes as this is the of the biggest projects we have yet to do. As i am excited i am also nervous for the outcome but ready for such challenge.

SO BRING IT ON!!!!

Never did i believe that i would be starting a blog, but now i am excited to be able to use this platform to put my thoughts together and in order, as it will make me organized and moreover have all the research i need to create a great product as the outcome.

The genre of this project is what seems best to start with....will it be comedy, adventure, horror, romance; there is just to much options to choose from and as of right now i am confused in which i will be proceeding, but i do know that it has to be something that i am truly passionate about as i want to enjoy doing this project. Music Marketing Post #2

 The process...

Ana Willson P.1

Music Marketing

To start of this project was a challenging project as it had many parts to it and many things to take into consideration. First we had to research different record labels such as:  Elektra Record and Fueled by Ramen.  Here is our music research chart in which we did elaborate research on these record labels and got a further understanding on how record labels work and different marketing approaches to make their artist successful.

After this process we had to create our own artist and develop different approaches to make this artist successful, we brainstormed many ideas and finally decided to create our character Issac. Issac is a teenager that grew up in Tampa and is moving to California to pursue his music career, we choose California as it's the place were many opportunities come along and were our artist would benefit more being. Issac is a rock star that has many socials in which he will create content to become known.
Me and my group decided to create different socials for Issac such as Instagram, Tik Tok and Twitter.

for example here is our design of his Instagram.

Moreover,  we planned his image based on putting different ideas together we all decided on the style of Issac as it fits his brand as a rock star, then we styled different hoodies and masks as we saw fit since we as teenagers which is his target audience know what is on style and decided upon the style of the trippy happy face.
Finally we put everything together and created our presentation as we believed would be best understood and elaborated. This project took time and effort but i believe we did a great job we all put our skills together to make it happen, Sophia and Ethan did a very good job editing the music video and me and Isabela did very well in researching and at the end we put everything together and it became this great artist.

This project helped me understand music marketing better and whats behind an artist which is his brand and the label. It also showed me how to furthermore do research and gain more understanding over a topic. The aspects of this project such as teamwork will help me in my Cambridge portfolio as i will be working in a team to accomplish my portfolio, also the aspect of time management will also help me as we had to work to put this project together in a certain amount of time. Researching and editing also will come in handy when doing my portfolio i learned a lot of great tips and tricks with this project that will allow me to be more successful in projects in the future.
Very amazing and fun opportunity to learn about music marketing and to create a whole artist!

Music Marketing

Music Marketing project intro...

By: Ana Willson

In this music marketing project that me and my group had to develop for AICE Media Studies we got assigned the genre of rock, through this we had to do extensive research in which i learned a lot about rock and how rock record companies work. We began our research by brainstorming ideas for the artist we'll be creating and what each of us believes is a good idea. After we came to a conclusion we spilt the work between all of us.I had to do research on the record label that's called Elekra Records, this was a very interesting record label to research as many well known rock bands and artist formed or form part of it. Such as, Queen, AC/DC, Twenty One Pilots, The Doors and others. We still haven't faced any challenges as i believe everything is going smoothly and we are communicating very well. Our next steps for this project is to record he music video, edit and finish music marketing presentation that we will be presenting to our fellow students, i am very excited for this project as i believe is very interesting and fun!

here are some screenshots of our work...

Representation Analysis

Representation Analysis

When the media creators choose to show their reality a certain way like in the tide add we see this mom that is having trouble with her daughter cause she loves getting ready and we see the little girl playing not paying attention at what the "mom" is saying we are seeing how tide is portraying their reality and get people to relate to this problem and choose to buy tide over other detergents. When faced with this representation examples we see sexuality being used in the axe add when the million girls are running towards the one guy that's wearing the axe deodorant, showing that if guys use this deodorant they will get all girl, Moreover they used the stereotypical that are pretty showing that they will be getting these gorgeous girls. Through the add of H & M we see them using recycled clothes showing that if you wear H & M not only will you look good but you will be recycling so for the target audience is a win win, cause they will dress good and moreover recycle. By these media commercials we see how representation works as, we get different examples of gender, sexuality, and culture in the commercials. This gets the target audience that is interested to moreover purchase what is being portrayed to them.

The Horror of Horror Movies

 Research horror genre

By: Ana Willson

                                                                                     WHAT IS HORROR:

Horror the spooky scary genre, that has everyone screaming and holding on to their blankets, as this is my favorite genre i decided to research the genre of HORROR.

Scare yourself silly with over 400 horror movies that cost $5 each - CNET

The genre of Horror brings its viewers a sense of shock and terror. Many people all over the world feel this sense of terror and continue watching horror movies as it's a very popular genre. Moreover with the release of a new horror movie such as recently The Invisible Man and classics as Insidious the fuz of these movies get around and before we know it even people that didn't like horror movies are now finding themselves watching them. When the time of halloween comes around these movies are watched even more so as many enjoy the trill, and like to show their emotional capability towards these scary movies. The creation of a horror movie is not as expensive as other genres making the creation of these movies more profitable to the creators.

Content of Horror:

Horror films are meant to be unsettling as the purpose behind it is to scare the audience.  They use different tactics like dramatic music, foreshadowing, scary settings, suspense to build up the story and make sure the audience is getting this sense of fear.

For example ,in the movie The Purge as soon as the movie starts it is foreshadowed that something will happen to the family in the beginning of the movie as all crimes are allowed for a day. They use foreshadowing for the audience to make an idea of what will come next as granting all crimes to be legal foreshadows and builds suspense for the rest of the movie.

The setting of a movie and sound effects of a film also plays a huge role in horror films. As seen in different horror movies such as the Conjuring and Poltergeist  they use scary and creepy settings to create fear and shock on the audience, as we see the creepy houses used in the movies and the different settings seen such as the church and the backyard settings used. Moreover, horror films use dramatic music and sound effects in order to empathize when something is going to happen. In these movies in different times we hear the dramatic music getting louder when a substantial event is about to happen.

Poltergeist (1982) - IMDb

Fear and Suspense, make horror movies what they are as they are the biggest factors in this genre. Suspense helps build up the fear in the viewer. Making the audience fear what the next scene will be, fear is what makes horror movies so great as many horror movies have the same story lines and can be expected on what will be coming next, but by adding suspense and fear the felling that it evokes on the audience still causes fear making the movie a horror movie. Some horror movies finish with a happy ending that ultimately calms the audience down as it is now over, other movies such as Insidious don't end that way they keep the terror going by finishing the movie with a scary scene.

Amazon.com: Insidious: Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, James Wan: Movies & TV

As seen in the movie Insidious when we believe the bad spirt had left the little boys body and everything will be back to normal to seeing that another spirt had transferred to the father's body ending the movie like this evokes more fear in the audience as it keeps us thinking about it ultimately creating terror.

Production Techniques:

Once you become aware of the different techniques horror film producers use to make the audience jump from their seats, scream, and hold on tight you will become more prepared for the next time you watch a horror film.

All things considered, a truly knowledgeable horror  film producer won't really turn to the normal, worn out reliable loathsomeness scenes that have made us unnerved previously, yet will rather utilize either a mixing of these old sorts, or use new, all the more captivating viewpoints for genuinely astonishing realistic landscape not at all like anything ever observed previously. That is the general purpose of the awfulness class in any case, to push the limits of fear as reasonably as should be possible. Be that as it may, a decent loathsomeness doesn't just alarm the watcher, they go far more profound in drawing out both physical and mental associations to send the watcher into a twist opening of significant distress.

Some production techniques used are, sound effects that make the scene that is going on scarier and more suspenseful. Moreover by a song growing higher and higher in volume it causes the scene to get spookier, they also use the technique of jump scare we've all seen this in a horror movie for example, at the point when a dog jumps out of the blue and barks drastically to what we don't seem to see yet.

For Example, we see these jump scares and sound effects in the films of Friday the 13th.

Marketing:

Horror movies claw into our minds to exploit our worst fears. Ghosts, zombies, monsters, clowns, girls with long black hair, gremlins… the good ones are hard to shake, no matter how hard we try.

Horror films are low budget films that can bring a lot of profit, the audience that is trying to catch is people ages 14-35 year olds. As people of this age enjoy the thrill and the horror of the film. This films use aspects such as blood, murder, scary looking characters to attract these teenagers and young adults. Moreover, the way they portray the trailers and the movie itself in this scary way that causes the audience to want to watch these films.
